Read The Valuable Nikon 50mm 1.8 Review And Find Out Why This Lens Is Such A Joy To Use

Chocolate Truth eBook
No Nikon 50mm 1.8 review would be perfect without mentioning the extremely sharp pictures that this lens produces, all for a very cheap rate.

The focal length of 50mm is said to be the closest in range and intensity to what the human eye interprets, and as such it has enjoyed many years in the spotlight as a great general purpose lens, doubling as a 75mm portraiture lens on an APS-C DSLR body.

And also great picture quality and affordable price, this lens is very light weight and little enough that it will basically fit in your pocket, making it a great carry around lens for no additional effort.

Optically, the Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens contains 6 elements arranged in 5 groups (with the aperture system featuring 7 diaphragm blades). The minimum distance of focusing is 0.45m and the filter size is 52mm.

As was mentioned earlier, this lens is pretty compact at just 64x39mm plus light at only 155g.

You might think that because this lens is so inexpensive, that its build feature must be substandard also. However, the build quality of this lens is rather decent with a combination of metal and polycarbonate as the primary elements.

The relatively little rubber focus ring has a highly smooth operation and the front element does not turn with a polarizer attached so this is another positive too - we all know how irritating a rotating front element with a polarizer could be.

In general the Nikon 50mm 1.8 does not enjoy the same reputation that a lot of the leading Nikon lenses do, but it is still a quiet and very competent achiever in its own right.

It does not fall down badly in any particular area, possibly the only bad point could be that it is soft on the borders wide open and perhaps carries a slight contrast deficiency too.

Of course for the price, these minor details can easily be ignored when buying this awesome Nikkor 50mm 1.8.
