Here are a few natural short term fixes to relieve the pain of gout:

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an old remedy from the United States. It has been recommended as a cure for headaches, sore throat, colds, and, of course, gout.

Consume 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with at least 3 times as much water. (If you can't buy apple cider vinegar you can try another natural vinegar.) Traditionally honey is added to the drink to make it sweeter and make it more tasty. However, I recommend that anyone suffering from gout pain do not use honey or other sweeteners. I will write more about this when talking about the food choices to get rid of it.

Limons, Limes and Lemons

The juices of lemons, limes and lemons are effective in curing the disease. Drink the juice just as in the discussion of apple cider vinegar in the paragraph above.

Baking Soda

Some people recommend taking 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in water, but no more than 4 teaspoons per day. After the hurting is eliminated cut back to limited to than 1 teaspoon per day. Baking soda was also an old medicine for cancer and other diseases.

Don't use baking soda within 2 hours of meals or within 1 hour of using citrus juice or apple cider vinegar.

Water

Every day drink lots of water. Use plain water when you are not using it with apple cider vinegar, citrus fruit or baking soda.

Bananas

Believe it! Eat just bananas for 3 or more days. Yes, you can do it! I lived on just vegetable juice for 50 days. Bananas have loads of potassium. People with gout are almost certainly deficient in potassium. Besides, eating only a diet that is good for you for just 72 hours, will get rid the foods and additives that are not good for you.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is the newly rediscovered vitamin that is good for many of our diseases. So go in the sun and exercise! The direct sunshine on your sweaty skin will make the natural vitamin D. Avoid the strong mid-day sunshine hours. When you don't have much sunlight then try vitamin D pills.

Exercise

Exercise is beneficial, even when you are free from gout. But you knew that already that , didn't you? See the discussion of Vitamin D in the previous paragraph.

Spices

Natural spices are not only tasty, but are also very good for the disease of gout too. Turmeric, chili (cayenne pepper) and nutmeg are spices that used as natural gout cures. These spices are available in grocery and health food stores. You can add them to food or consume them with water. Turmeric and chili are ingredients of curry.

You should not use man made "spices" or "flavor enhancers" like MSG (monosodium glutamate or "Ajinomoto") since they are mostly bad for gout sufferers or at best not satisfactorily evaluated by long (several generations) use by humans volunteers and then carefully watched and scientifically measured.

Sugar

If you aim to be in good health, eliminate all types of sugar or its substitutes. Natural food is good all by itself, so kick your sugar habit!

Others

Bitter gourd (ampalaya), beets, cabbage and pineapple are used as natural remedies for gout.
