My sister and I designed a baby shower party for one of our nieces. We decided to have it in the fellowship area of the neighborhood church due to the fact that it was a large guest list. We had the baby shower on a Saturday afternoon. We did not want to get too intricate with the baby shower decorations because of the fact that we had to have the complete area cleaned out instantaneously after the party. We did want to have a few decorations for baby shower to give the room a celebratory feel. There's a cradle that's passed to each new mother for the baby to sleep in for the first 4 to 6 weeks. This bassinet was my mother's. We decided that we would use the bassinet as the middle of our baby shower decorations.
The fellowship section has large round tables that seat ten people. We moved 1 table off by itself to be the gift table. We covered this table with a soft pink table cloth; our niece has found out she is having a girl. We set the bassinet in the center of the table. We decided to use our presents for the baby shower decorations. I had obtained a pink and white infant blanket, which we draped over the side of the bassinet. We pinned several rattles and other infant toys to the blanket using diaper pins. We then showed the little outfits that my sister had bought. We finished the baby shower party decorations for the presents table by placing a large stuffed bear into the cradle. It's so much fun to decorating for a baby shower!
For the food service table we had an arrangement of fresh cut flowers from the neighborhood florist. She used silky pink carnations, baby's breathe and daisies for the arrangement. We decided that no other baby shower festive decorations needed to be placed on this table. We did have pink napkins that we put on this table, along with a cake that was decorated with a stork holding a tiny doll in a pink frosting blanket.
We had also gotten a corsage for our niece and one for each of the new grandmothers to be. We felt that the room looked very good and we wouldn't have to spend a good deal of time cleaning up baby shower decorations because of the fact that they would all be sent home as presents to our niece.
We had a great turn out for the shower. My niece received quite a few very nice gifts. She was glad that we had the baby shower in a space that was not cramped. As she progresses with the maternity she is feeling more claustrophobic. Within 30 minutes after the baby shower party was over the fellowship area was cleaned and we were on our way home.
