A Married Couple Becomes Uptight About Their Abusive And Hazardous Drinking And Ponders Whether They Display Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Chocolate Truth eBook
Lenny and Angie have been married for eight years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they consciously constructed an extremely active social life.

The central difficulty, it needs to be underscored, is that just about everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they go to somehow involve drinking.

If they were sporadic drinkers this wouldn't be such a difficult situation. Given the fact that they drink in an excessive manner, however, they are beginning to notice some instantly noticeable alcohol-related problems in their lives.

For instance, just four weeks ago Lenny was placed in custody for a third DUI and has been leaving early from work because of alcohol-related health problems. What is more, Lenny's last two or three performance reviews at work have been less than acceptable and he has begun to fail to recall what he does or says while he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family has begun to show concern about his drinking behavior.

Similar to Lenny's circumstances, Angie has been feeling unhappy with things in her life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past year. Moreover, Angie has been experiencing a lot of headaches and going through agonizing hangovers because of her drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling substantially less active in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been receiving some strong criticism from her relatives, family members, friends, and coworkers about her hazardous and careless drinking.

One Saturday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie accidentally discovered a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television program was a real jolt to Angie and Lenny because numerous alcohol facts that were listed appeared as if they were indisputably associated with many of the alcohol related problems Lenny and Angie had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the television documentary still running through her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are addicted to alcohol or perhaps becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local drug and alcohol abuse treatment clinic to find out more about the gravity of their drinking problems.

Strangely enough, although their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was obvious that Angie and Lenny were at the very least addressing their drinking difficulties, they were eager to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in discovering how they could notably cut down the severity or get rid of the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to deteriorate even further.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that evening, they made up their minds that the next day, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol treatment clinic located in the middle of town. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to cope with the alcohol-related issues that had become apparent in their lives, they truly had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could recall in the last nine months.
